We are looking for Java Architects to support our Development team. As a Java Architect with Backbase - Amsterdam, you will be working with a leading and innovative web 2.0 company specializing in Customer Experience 2.0 software and services based on RIA and Ajax technology. Backbase works for major clients such as ABN AMRO, KPN, ING, Ziggo, Philips, NXP, Visa, AIG, EMC, IBM and Vanguard.

The team

You will join as member of the Backbase Development department. The Development department within Backbase combines Engineering and Product Management and is responsible for the roadmap and implementation of our next-generation portal platform.

You will report to the Development Manager but you are very capable of defining and being responsible for your own work.

The Job

As JEE Architect, you are responsible for the successful realization of the portal architecture. You are experienced in making sound technical design decisions and developing a complete architecture according to the latest industry design patterns.

An important part of your job is to coach others. You take great effort in learning and understanding the latest and greatest technological developments and will help translate these into solutions that fulfill the long term needs of our product.

Your Profile

In order to succeed in this challenging and demanding position, our ideal candidate will fit the following profile:

• HBO / Academic education
• At least 8 years experience working with Enterprise Java, of which at least three years in an architectural role
• A healthy curiosity in learning major technical developments in your field and the ability to translate them into a robust future-proof architecture
• Experience in translating high level requirements into a modular and scalable architecture
• Preferably experience with one of the major portal platforms
• A hands-on mentality
• The ability to think in concepts, but be able to apply and communicate these concepts into clear, concrete goals
• Excellent communications skills and a desire to share knowledge and coach others
• Excellent English language skills, preferably native or fluent Dutch
