Backbase is growing! Therefore we are looking for new colleagues.

For our Product Development department, we are looking for a hands-on QA Manager who will pick up the challenge of defining a quality assurance culture, make sure that everybody embraces this, and provide the tools and means to keep producing high quality software.

As a QA Manager within Backbase - Amsterdam, you will be working with a leading and innovative web 2.0 company specializing in Customer Experience 2.0 software and services based on RIA and Ajax technology. Backbase works for major clients such as ABN AMRO, KPN, ING, Ziggo, Philips, NXP, Visa, AIG, EMC, IBM and Vanguard.

The Team

You will join as member of the Backbase Development department. The Development department within Backbase combines Engineering and Product Management and is responsible for the roadmap and implementation of our next-generation portal platform.

You will report to the Development Manager but you are very capable of defining and being responsible for your own work. You will manage a growing QA team.

The Job

You provide and monitor best practices, methods, and tools. You work together with Backbase developers and the Backbase Tools department to implement the proper tools for unit tests, integration tests, performance tests, build management, and source control. You actively participate in the testing yourself and are responsible for managing the QA team.

Your Tasks

You recognize in yourself the following competencies and skills:

• Extensive experience with testing methodologies and tools
• Extensive experience with source control tools and best practices
• A technical background, preferably some development background in Java
• Excellent communication skills: You need to be able to evangelize a culture of quality assurance; coach, train, and motivate developers; and understand the needs of the developers
• Excellent language skills in English, and preferably also able to speak Dutch
• You are passionate about delivering quality but at the same time pragmatic enough to not let the means become the end
• You are used to working in teams who adopt an agile way of developing. Within Backbase, we use Scrum and XP in our project lifecycles.
